Is the time now??? Can this last??? Are we dreaming or witnessing greatness???

Ok i have waited to start a thread on this kid but after last nights calm impressive vet like performance i won't wait any longer.

Someone pinch me can this be it?? Have the Flyers finally found the guy between the pipes for the next decade plus??

I know it's early and the kid has only 13 games under his belt. But it just feels to unreal.

For myself i did witness the great Pelle Lindbergh so really as a Flyer fan i never witnessed a true stud playing in net in my time watching the Flyers.

When i started watching they (92-93) the Soderstrom and Roussel in goal. I have to say the best pedigree in net i ever watch had to be Mason.

Sure i watch the old past his prime Hextall. Bob would have to be the best home grown talent but we know what happened to him.

So the best goalie the Flyers ever brought up through the system was Boucher and Niittymaki. That is it. And that is a terrible track record for 26 year of hockey watching.

Sure there were some decent guys sprinkled in there sort of like Sean Burke and Biron maybe but never any true 10 bell saving home grown talent for the team to lean on.

But now it seems like those time are changing. And man i have to say it feels so good to now instead holding my breath everytime the puck gets down around the Flyers goal to be just amazed and having to rewind it to see an impressive save by some Flyers goalie flashing the glove save or kicking out the leg or blocker to kick the puck away. I am just beside myself right now.

Yet i will tell you this without doubt i can get use to this. Us Flyers fans truly truly deserve this.....finally. Now i do understand there will still be some ups and downs to come but i think they have just the kid to handle it. I don't even know what it is like to go into 2019-20 with the Flyers for once not having the yearly huge goalie questions.

His play has inspired the team in front of his and if you don't believe it then you haven't been watching. Because they have still be making mistakes in their own end but they are not looking as panicky because it seems like the whole team knows he has their back and is going to bail them out. Just refreshing i must say. Keep it going and finish the season out strong and let the chips fall where they may.

I know he hasn't played the amount of game some of the top guys have this year but his 922% would be good for 6th best in the league this year.

And his goals against would be 13th and steadily dropping. Man just keep this kid safe and way from sports cars. This team just need another piece or two for next year.

Hold on tight i guess we are in for a wild ride....

It is exciting to see what he's been able to achieve since coming up.

My only reservation - because, well, you know... - is akin to the hot young pitcher in baseball making his first run through the league.

Will the league get "the book" on Hart? I don't see a whole lot to exploit, but I haven't watched a ton, either.

Essentially: more Holtby, less Raycroft. 🤗

Are you not familiar with the phrase "Kiss of Death"?

REPORTED!

Sure there is a reason why i have never bought a Wentz jersey.

I learned my lesson with Mike Richards i bought his jersey and they traded him the next year.

Yet i only believe in that type of jinx stuff when it comes to actually buying a jersey not just talking up or complimenting a guy.

So Hart will be fine.

I just don't see it he is just so sound fundamentally checks all the boxes on what you would want in your goalie.

I mean i have read about the stuff on him from reports. But the best part is i am SEEING THEM!!

For myself only seeing is believing. So i hope he keeps it trending upwards.

And he has been talking to a shrink since juniors sounds like he has a head start of many who play goalie in the NHL.

Most of us know how mental playing goalie can be.

It is a pressure cooker and then to be ONE in Philly X 10 on that and yet the kid just right now doesn't seemed to get rattled. Like that first goal last night he seemed to just put that past him so quick the way he was playing you would think he was still pitching a shutout.

Now don't get me wrong he will still go through some ups and downs.

But right as of this moment i feel confident in him and that as a Flyers for a goalie in Philly i can say i have never truly felt tha so it is still foreign to me and i am learning too...

RE: "the book" I was thinking this too. First time through the league the pro scouts haven't had a good look at him, neither have the skaters.

The part that gives me hope though,  is much like Matt Murray the puck "just hits him"...he sees the game well. There's as guy going backdoor for a cross ice pass...Hart is in position to be square to the shooter,  he's not rushing he's not sliding he's crouched and ready and has the angle closed down.  That part I know will vary from time to time, but for now he's playing the position like a seasoned veteran.

He's not flopping around making crazy Hasek highlight reel saves...he's just keeping the puck in front of him.

The dude is preternaturally calm. Let's hope he stays physically healthy because it appears he has the mental game clocked.

I don't want to get too far ahead with any expectations, Carter Hart makes that difficult, he's pretty good already.

This is the most eye opening part.

He is ahead of the game it seems like right.

I just hope he can stay healthy. Sky is the limit for this kid.

I beseech you, please stop. Nothing good can come from this talk. Nothing. Only bad things, like vertigo, the yips, and much, much worse.

He certainly looks like the real deal. Very calm and focused.

Jonesy mentioned on the broadcast last night that another big difference is that the team really works hard to protect Carter and help him out. Blocking shots, sacrificing bodies, pummeling guys who get too close.

We haven't seen much of that over the past few years.

I agree, but it's symbiotic.  He's steadied them, and they're helping out in return.

It has to have some psychological and then psychosomatic benefit to the players' games knowing that just because they make a mistake it doesn't mean the puck is going into their own net.     I mean, there were several mistakes and turnovers that turned into pretty good scoring chances and Hart just swallowed them up.  And he's been doing that.   And whomever said this is right:  he's not just flopping around out there making Hasekesque saves.  He doesn't have to because he's in position.  It's like...he knows.

@OccamsRazor    I watched Bernie Parent play.  I watched "The Streak" and those goalies.  I saw Lindbergh and Froese (don't laugh, he was good when he first came up) and Hextall stone Gretzky on a breakaway in like his 2nd or 3rd game.    I don't think at the time I realized the Flyers wouldn't always have good goaltending.   But then they invented indoor plumbing and the Flyers' goalies have sucked ever since.  It's really refreshing to see, and I haven't seen it in a Flyers uniform in decades.  Honestly, I didn't see it in Bob.  He wasn't nearly as controlled.   And I think that's what ultimately costs Bob in the playoffs.   I'm not arguing Bob wasn't or isn't good, but I never felt like I saw what I'm seeing right now.  This is fun.   I know this is of extreme importance to you and you'll  be awed and amazed, but I picked him up in our fantasy league the day or two before he was recalled.  Riding him like a rented mule.

And whomever compared him to Murray, please don't unless you add the caveat "hopefully aside from health issues."

It is so refreshing to not have to look away from the TV every time somebody turned the puck over to avoid seeing the auto goal. I ask this before and I ask it again, "Where would this team be if they had started the season with Hart in goal?"
