  1. I understand what you're saying but Holmgren is no longer the GM of the Flyers so whatever bitterness Poile has towards him should die and he can build a trading relationship with Hextall. If Poile is going to hold a grudge against the Flyers then that's his choice but it would be pretty childless.
  2. Come on Polaris922, you can't tell me that Pens fans wouldn't be sitting back smiling if someone had given Giroux an offer sheet to force the Flyers' hand if the same situation came up. This code amongst GMs is bullshit too because each GM is trying to win a cup with their team no matter how they do it. Bottom line it forced Nashville's hand to put up or shut up or take the picks. Holmgren tried to make a trade with Poile but they couldn't agree because Poile was talking to other teams at the same time trying to drum up the price for Weber (which he should), so Holmgren used something that was legal to even the playing field with Poile but also eliminate the other teams who were trying to trade for Weber. Every GM has screwed other gms in trades over the years so if Poile is going to hold a grudge then maybe he should go cry to his mom, either that or go put his big boy pants on. As for Lecavalier situation, no GM in their right mind is going to help out Hextall and the Flyers, they all smell blood and a chance to take advantage of the situation but Hextall for now isn't going to be stupid and give in to these demands. He'll start the season with VLC in Philly and go from there which is smart and wait and see if something comes up to move VLC.
  3. lol, I think Weber's agent felt like Weber deserved a contract similar to Ryan Suter.
  4. I don't agree, the thing that everybody seems to forget is no one was holding a gun to Weber's head when HE signed the offer sheet from the Flyers. There is no doubt that Weber felt slighted when he seen the contract that Suter got and figured if Nashville wasn't going to offer a similar one that if another team did he'd sign the offer sheet. Weber didn't show any loyalty to Nashville he was going for the money and he didn't care if he ended up in Philly or back in Nashville as long as he got the contract that he thought he deserved. Besides Weber's camp realized if he signed an one year deal with Nashville and went to UFA, the max contract he would have gotten was 7 years with another team or 8 years with Nashville because of the new cba.
  5. I'd love to see Hextall bring Poulin in as the assistant GM who would be in charge of the Phantoms. Poulin is a smart hockey guy, he did well running the Marlies and he understands what it's like to play in Philly. I think it would be a great fit and I hope it happens
  6. I'm with you Jammer2, I'd alternate between him playing 2nd line centre, 4th line centre and the pressbox. If he doesn't like that then maybe he'll consider adding more teams to his list of places to be traded to. The ideal situation is for him to get injured and the Flyers put him on LTIR or he decides to retire (which is wishful thinking). Or we can hope that he has a better second year, contributes a lot and we want to see him in the lineup. If all else fails then the Flyers can buy him out next summer when there is only $10 million left owing him and they pay 2/3 over the next 6 years or buy him out after year 3.
  7. @ sarsippius Hopefully old man Snider let's Hextall do his job in building this team the way he wants not the way Snider wants. Maybe Snider seeing all of the success that Flyers-West (LA) has done by being patience and developing that just maybe he'll allow Hextall to do the same.
  8. @Poulin20 Thanks for the information on the STH meeting.
  9. It seems Hextall has options when it comes to VLC, 1) Like you said move Schenn to LW on Giroux's line and keep Vinny as 2nd line centre 2) Maybe try and trade for E.Kane maybe trading the Schenn brothers to get him and keep Vinny as a 2nd line centre 3) Keep Schenn as a 2nd line centre and move Vinny as a 4th line centre 4) Maybe trade Vinny to Nashville (possibly) for a draft pick but have to retain $2 million per year of the cap hit 5) Buy him out and he'll be on the books for the next 8 years or wait til after next season to buy him out Finally, grab one of his old goalie sticks and slash Holmgren across the legs and tell him thanks for being a dumbass in signing Vinny to this stupid contract and handcuffing the Flyers with cap this season and maybe next year also depending on what the cap will be.
  10. What about letting Laughton develop his game in the AHL next year if he is going to be pegged to play on the 4th line where as he'd play first line minutes in the AHL.
  11. @aziz It's well known that he wants out of Winnipeg in a bad way, would the Schenn brothers for Kane be a fair trade?
  12. @B21 Then Crosby better be afraid when he plays against the French Tickler!
  13. Can you say Mike Richards II, I guess Claude was celebrating Canada Day with his police buddies
  14. Maybe they'll sign Brodeur to bonus-laden 1 year deal
  15. Hopefully this trade goes thru, I'd take Upshall to get rid of Vinny's contract. Upshall will be gone after this 1 season.
  16. That's why the Flyers fans booed him when he opened up the draft, got to love the Philly fans!
  17. Class act, hopefully Philly fans give him a standing ovation when he comes to Philadelphia to play against the Flyers in November.
  18. I hope to **** that Hexie isn't stupid enough to trade for Phaneuf and that 7 year contract.
  19. Hartnell was a good foot soldier over his time in Philly and hope he does well in Columbus. As for Umbie, it's a wait and see as to where he fits in this team, the good thing is he only has 3 years left on his contract. With the signing of Schenn for another 2 years will make it interesting to see what Hexie does next. Should be interesting for the draft this friday in Philly.
  20. @ Polaris922 I was stating that we got screwed because we lost the 1st overall pick in the draft lottery eventhough we finished dead last for the season. If the NHL wanted to stick it to the Flyers then we'll never know but Flyers fans know there was no conspiracy on the draft lottery that year, but 2005 is a different story
  21. After watching the CHI/LA game tonight, and watching Patrick Kane play it continues to piss me off that the Flyers got screwed in the 2007 draft. Instead of getting 1st overall which would have been Kane the Flyers ended up with second and drafting JVR. To think what Giroux and Kane would have looked like playing on the same line. He's an exciting player to watch and it's going to be a hell of a game 7.
  22. @jammer2 Well said, the Montreal Canadiens fanbase is the most arrogant, self-righteous group in the NHL, it's hard to find any Hab fan who will admit their team didn't derserve to win a game and they truly believe they should win the cup every year.
  23. Maybe if he scored like that in game 6 in 2010 Stanley Cup finals Flyers fans would be talking about the Flyers winning the cup 4 years ago instead of 39 years ago.
  24. @ Polaris922 Not that I want to see the Pens improve their roster but can you see Shero shaking it up big time this summer with the possibility of trading Malkin?
