  1. Yeah but Brashear or Cooke are now retired ;-/
  2. So Unfortunate... But I mean, **** Don Cherry and wear a full grid no matter what.
  3. Of course, I was kidding -- just a bit Still, it's really not fun for these bottom teams to get demolished every year against the North Americans. They know that they will get crushed and that what usually happens. Former Swiss coach Christian Wohlwend (a guy that I love. he speaks truly on a very colored way) perfectly summarizes it when Switzerland learned that they will face Canada in the quarters:
  4. Canada-Latvia, 10-0 USA-Switzerland 11-3 Czech Rep.-Norway 8-1 Sweden-Latvia 6-0 ...and it's not over. Maybe change the formula, go with only six teams and start directly with 2 wild card games and the following semi-finals.
  5. Holy smoke, back to the 1980s where Russians, Czechs and other players from the wrong side of the iron curtain had to defect and seek asylum in the west at a high risk level. It's a matter of emergency that these prospects manage to get the f*** outta there as soon as possible, for their own safety.
  6. Actually, I think it depends of the goalie. If a Michigan prevents Fleury from getting past Patrick Roy, then it's a 2' for high stick + 10' misconduct against the player. If it's Binnington in net, I'd give a 10' for unsportsmanlike conduct and an additional 2' for instigator against Binnington.
  7. Crazy what damages concussions can made. You can either be ok 2 weeks later or have your career over. As sad as inevitable at that point.
  8. Levi is the goalie of the future in the Sabres' organization. He's still young, maybe he should gain some experience down in the AHL but he's the man. On the other hand, they should stop running three goalies ASAP because it burns one roster spot while preventing either Luukkonen or Comrie to get significant ice time to increase their value. There is definitely something wrong with this team. Year after year they inked very skilled and promising young players, they start the season well before having an epic collapse that boots them out of the play-off picture. The 9-4 rout yesterday shows that something is broken and this is serious. It's like the players gave up.
  9. Totally agree. He's some sort of Chiarelli 2.0 and with Fletcher on the podium with those two, we have a fantastic bunch of numbnutz. On the other hand and as a Blues rival and hater, every move that would lead to sink this ship deeper is good to take.
  10. Yeah, I forgot all those pans. And not keeping Perron (who was strongly attached to this team) was also a bad decision.
  11. I'm gonna paste my last post here: Dumb move. Berube was not responsible of the current teams' woes, St-Louis is a bottom-tier team and the Blues was lucky that Binnington kept his BS away and played like a real #1 goalie to keep them afloat. Not his fault either if Kyrou, Thomas, Schenn are stinking right now with the Front office thinking that going after players like Kevin Hayes to fill the spots is a great idea...
  12. The Senators are doing everything possible to move back in downtown Ottawa, the current Panthers location is in the middle of nowhere and the franchise has a long and storied structural issue to have a decent attendance, not to mention the current Arizona situation and the damage caused by playing in freakin' Glendale... And The Caps want to do the exact opposite!?!? This is dumbest, most stupid idea ever since building the Canadian Tire arena in Kanata. I truly hope for the franchise's sake and fans that this lunatic nonsense plan doesn't go forward.
  13. Dumb move. Berube was not responsible of the current teams' woes, St-Louis is a bottom-tier team and the Blues was lucky that Binnington kept his BS away and played like a real #1 goalie. Not his fault either if Kyrou, Thomas, Scheen are godawful with the FO thinking that going after players like Kevin Hayes to fill the spots is a great idea... (Meanwhile, DJ Smith and Këkäläïnën are still employed)
  14. Hum... So what's the plan now? I was pretty high on Pascal Vincent but I'm tempering my expectations. And again, Këkäläïnën still has a job...
  15. Of course, it's personal taste but the Islanders, Oilers and Capitals already went with navy for their thirds, and it's also the Jets, Jackets and Kraken main color. I find it a bit boring. I would've gone with Red as the main jersey color with royal blue numbers and white trim, with the same logo (or the old one) but a bit smaller and maybe the Liberty Statue as shoulder patches. Sounds more like a third RR one but I would've tend to that option. LOL. I wasn't able to describe it but you nailed it.
  16. New York Rangers new alternates: Overall grade: C- Meh, I don't really like them. While it's a good thing to bring the logo as the main crest, it gives a clunky look as it is too large IMO. Navy blue jerseys are lame (glad that the Sabres and Oilers came back to their original royal blue color -- St-Louis, you're next). Not a fan either with the stripes' different shades of blue and thickness which makes too much of a mess on the sleeves. They also should've kept the original bottom-left shadowing on numbers and names. The previous alternates (Retro-reversed and the famous Liberty Statue logo were much better. Maybe I'm too much of a conservative type of guy, but as an O6 team they should have kept with some the features that make the Rangers' look and identity unique.
  17. I totally disagree, because if you send Watson in the penalty box, then this comes as a result
  18. For the goalies (unless you have an elite G like Öttinger, Hellebuyck, Vasilevskiy, Sorokin, Shesterkin): Complete lottery ! (ok, I'm exaggerating a little bit) In an era where tandems (or 1A/1B) become more and more the norm, it's really difficult to have any clue on how a goalie will perform in the beginning of the season. Demko was injured and awful last season, now he's like God. Talbot was good for the dump, and now he's skating on the water. On the other side, Gustavsson has become an AHLer, Schmid and Vanecek are terrible, Markström has a hard time too. Even constant and top-tier goalies are not safe. Varlamov was about to claim a timeshare with Sorokin, Georgiev was fantastic in October and then horsesh!t in November, Detroit is currently running three goaltenders. Two or three bad starts in a row and your undebatable #1 position is in jeopardy. This position is so versatile. Maybe in February we will be all fighting to grab Kähkonen lol.
  19. I think it was very important for a market like the Jets to ink those two long-term, given all the rumors and overall negativity around those who wanted to leave. That was a factor for the Niederreiter extension for example.
  20. A couple of years ago, the Halifax Mooseheads of Drouin/MacKinnon (the year they went something like 71-5-3 and won the Memorial Cup) were in Québec City against the rebuilding Remparts of Duclair and Erne. $15 the seat, not too bad. Game start scheduled at 7pm. First period, complete domination of the Mooseheads as expected but they scored only one goal to get a short lead after the first break. Second period: one dumb penalty by Halifax, one Québec goal. Another dumb penalty, another goal for the locals. And then the Moosehaeds completely lost it. They tried to fight everything, chopping every Remparts players like they were holding axes and swords. The Moose got a couple of majors and game misconduct and Québec scored almost everytime, increasing their frustration. The refs were so discouraged that they finished by randomly tossing players in the showers, including coaches Ducharme and Roy. Halifax players almost the entire third period on 3 vs. 5. Eight players remained on the Mooseheads bench, the same number was sitting on the penalty box. Hard to distinguish which bench it was. At the end, the Remparts completed a 8-2 upset and a total of something like 350 PIM were called. It's still in the top-3 of game with the most penalty in North American Junior hockey. The game ended short before midnight. The best $15 ever spent for a ice hockey game.
  21. If that Senators-Panthers game was played in the 1990s, it would've finished with a giant bench-clearing brawl. Instead of that, the ref gave to all players on the ice a 10-min misconduct penalty during the last scrum with seven minutes remaining in the game. First time that I see that with the ref making the sign of a home-run with such a call. Now both teams have 11 players remaining, the current total is 167 penalty minutes.
  22. Yeap, surprised to ear them booing. Usually it's a Montréal trademark after every missed shot.
