@ruxpin

But you DID give a lot of the veterans of philly.com a good laugh. I haven't been back over there since this board fired up, But it would be worth going over and pull up some of those old threads just for a laugh...if they're still there in limbo.

Please, if anyone does journey over to silly.com pull up the old Rick threads...

Wow, apparently they have posts back to January 2003... And maker and RochFlyer are fighting *edit* with everyone* in every single one...

@jammer2, @flyercanuck, @jsffour, @fanaticV3.0, @hf101, @vis,

If you were trapped on a desert island and could only bring 5 albums, which 5 would they be?

Rules: they can't be soundtracks. they can't be compilations (they are a sacrilege to music!) and they can't be live albums.

Go!

~superfan88

Metallica - Black album

GNR - Appetite for Destruction

Def Leppard - either Pyromania or Hysteria

Led Zepplin - IV

Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime

canadnflyfa - sometimes it's extremely difficult to read your posts - for the lack of punctuation. i thought this was the problem, but after re-reading them a few times, i realize this is not the case. is it intelligence?

Why did he play last night? He is horrible, a complete defensive liability. At this point I don't think that there is even a choice between him and Vandermeer. Maybe he'd be better on the wing, but I think he'd clearly be better in another uniform.

Recchi is atrocious. It is truly sad to see whata piece of garbage he has become. At 5 mil per year? AMAZING.

And how many more years do I have to watch Therien's goffy @ss attempt to carry the puck up the ice only to pass it right to someone on the other team. I'm convinced he has the goods on Clarkie, that is the only possible reason he's been a flyer d-man for like 24 years. St. Jacques would be better than him. My only solace will be when Woywitka takes his spot next year.

Here is a classic b/t bak (what hapened to him?) and myers (post Buff Rick getting bozo'd)... I literally am in tears reading through some of the stuff posted in response to Rick's madenss:

myers to kuato:

"Several that found it amuaing. So I even sent several emails to the mods. They are either preparing my way to the scafold or laughing their arses off? Who knows. But they have lots of reading material."

bakanekimiwa to myers:

"this seems to be the single most important topic of your life right now. and that is ... very very concerning.

you also casually mentioned something about being blown away or shot or something?

it's funny when you don't seem dangerous, but you're starting to appear dangerous"

myers to bak:

"I am not dangerous. You are trying to make the mods believe that to get me whacked. Dont you know I can see right through your tactics"

bakanekimiwa to myers:

"hahaha lol.. oh darn.. you're on to me rick.

rick, if you had 2 brain cells to rub together, you'd realize that you are doing more than enough to get yourself banned again."

I need to find some of the bad calls I made too, but here's a post from Rux back in November of 2010:

From:ruxpin

to: aziz

Only because I think you might actually get something for Leighton, so I don't just waive him.

Plus, he IS signed for next year and I don't *think* Boucher is. Laziness on my part for not looking it up if he is.

I don't think you get a thing for Boucher in a trade, so it's either keep him as backup while trading Leighton or waive him.

On the other hand, it's not like it would be the first time...or 2nd, 3rd, or 4th time...that Leighton's been waived.

(I guess in the end he did have some value)

But I found that one because it was in the same thread as this classic gem:

From:Kuato

To: MadDog4

PostedNovember 30, 2010 2:05 pm

"Well, ok, the stats are not impressive. I will give you that. But when analyzing a player who is only having a second year with the team, you can't really use stats as a backbone of the analysis/scrutiny."

Oh well Kuato didn't. Kuato has noted the several other "little things" he does not do.

He's not a defensively savvy player. He's not particularly physical. Heck, he's not even a face-off specialist (which is hockey's equivalent to a long snapper).

Taking all of these things into account, Kuato would actually very much like for you to explain how he's

1. a good player.

2. has a high trade value.

That is your claim, correct? Because you really aren't making a great case for that. He may be one day, Kuato completely agrees. Kuato actually said he would not trade him now (unless it was a great offer - which Kuato doesn't think is coming).

"If Marco Sturm, Brad Stuart and Wayne Primeau brought San Jose Joe Thornton, what makes you so convinced that JVR cannnot fetch the Flyers not only a second round pick (which is what I believe Aziz was suggesting), but a *really* good player?"

Aziz said 2nd line player.

JVR is not worth his 2nd pick. There's always been speculation about that. Now some of the criticism was unfair, but the second he opted to stay in college over juniors this kind of talk started. Then (after already having suspicion about him) once he does actually come to the bigs, he looks completely outclassed.

I'm not at all sure why this is included in "bad calls." In the context of the discussion and the question being asked by aziz at the time (a fair question, btw), I think the response was correct.

They actually did get something for Leighton, by the way, and nothing for Boucher. If you look at the rest of my posts involving Leighton over the years I railed against him every chance I got. I was like a long-snapper taking faceoffs (or however that nonsense was supposed to go!).

See if you can find the one where I "out" her "source," and get in trouble for it despite the fact everyone reading the board knew exactly who it was.

"And there is no way on God's green earth that this horrible excuse for a system is fine. It just isn't."

Same goes for you rux, email me what you think his system is, and I will send it off and see how close you are.

Until we determine whether or not you really have a handle on what his system is, you criticizing it means very little.

You may, on the other hand, be far more dialed in than I give you credit for but I would still question your claim by referencing the way the flyers played the 1st half of the season last year in the new NHL (pre-injury brigade).

Even then, he achieved 101 pts with what he had...an injury-laden lineup, laced with rookies and a slow-footed d corps. He might actually know a thing or two, no?

Last one. I didn't remember posting this on the day Holmgren was hired as GM.

I'm with you.

I hope Holmgren is simply an interim or it will be continued incompetence in the front office. Holmgren is NOT equipped to run a team.

Yes, a new era begins so it's time for a new bandwagon.

Holmgren MUST GO!

Yeah, I wasn't reading things right. And I did mention that they did actually get something for him later.

I've found many, many posts from philly.com typed by myself that were flat out misses. When you are posting a lot (had 18,000 posts there) and making calls on players, the more you post, the better your chances of messing it up. A few posts I made had me asking "what in the holy hell was I thinking back then?"....ha ha...oh well, live and learn, huh? For instance, I found a thread were I was arguing with the maker03, who thought Wade Redden was soft and would not be an all star for long. It was during one of his better years and I just could not see it.....I knew he was not physical, acutally avoided that part of the game at times, but never, ever thought his offense would go south. Man, was I wrong there.
