Scratch Knights

Unless some kind of agreement is reached, I think we can scratch "Black Knights" off of the list of potential nicknames in Canada. It appears that there's a trademark problem with the London Knights of the OHL.

I had heard the Silver knights were still a possibility as some variation of "Knights" remains in play, but Foley admitted there's a conflict with that exact name.

Apparently, they are down to 4 real choices with none of them having anything to do with Gambling.

Other names with some interest might be Scorpions, Outlaws, and I've heard Stealth also.

Personally, I think calling the team Nevada vs Las Vegas is a better choice.

The Las Vegas Polar Bears.

What do polar bears have to do with Las Vegas?   To my knowledge, not a damn thing.  So it's perfect.   Because 80% (or more) of the people present in that city at any given time don't have a thing to do with the city either

Nothing to do with gambling (check) and is representative of the foreign (not from the city, I don't necessarily mean non-American) nature of the population.

Perfect.

I thought this as well.

Nevada ______  sounds like it would roll off much nicer.

Also, as far as names go, I think "Silver" has to be worked in there somewhere.

Other things the state is known for the NHL doesn't want to do (gambling, casinos), and that leaves the legalization of prostitution throughout most of the state, and um, well, and I am taking a guess here, I am thinking Bettman doesn't want to go there....ALTHOUGH, that said, home games in Vegas may be the ONLY time where 'hooking' penalties aren't called.....

I was looking at the kinds of wildlife the state of Nevada is known for...

Here's a few, with "silver" in it:

Nevada Silver Falcons

Nevada Silver Peregrines (or just Nevada Peregrines, the actual type of falcon)

Nevada Silver Raptors (raptor being the classification of 'bird of prey', i.e. falcon/hawk)

Moving away from birds, Nevada is also known for their mountain goats/rams...

So..

Nevada Bighorns (or Silver Bighorns)

Staying with mountain mammals..

Nevada Antelopes (or Nevada Silver Lopes)

If they want to be a bit different and name the team after bats, those are plentiful in Nevada..

Nevada Silver Bats

They really should give up on not doing names associated with gambling.

Nevada Black Jacks

Las Vegas Aces

I guess "Nevada Caps" goes too far.

Nevada Hitmen

Nevada Gangsters

Nevada Dealers

 Pelicans or Herons work too

Red Racers or Ringnecks

Before I heard they weren't doing gambling names, I was thinking

Vegas Rollers, Nevada Silver Rollers, Las Vegas / Nevada Silver Deuces, or Nevada Silver Antes (logo here could be a portion of a playing card with a hint of betting chips on the side)

I like your Black Jacks, Aces, and Red Racers (maybe paint them Silver though...hehe) though, Rux.

Lol @ painting silver.   The Red Racer is a snake out there.

How about Silver Eraser? (another reference to mobsters)

Silver Aces works for me.

Nevada Outlaws

I like it.

But before it's suggested,  I don't like Silver Outlaws.

. Besides, most things in Las Vegas are gold anyway.   Don't like Nevada Golden Outlaws, either.

I do like Nevada Outlaws, though.

In keeping with the new trend of naming teams that don't end in "s" (i.e. the Silver Wild or the Silver Lightning, for example)

I present to you

The Nevada Las Vegas Royal Flush

you're welcome.

I thought of Royal Flush, but decided "no" due to all the possible toilet humor....unless, of course, THAT is what YOU were going for... :eyeroll:

It works on so many levels.

They could make a shitload of money in merchandising if they went with a gambling related team name. Las Vegas Aces? I'd buy a jersey.

The funny thing is you know the media is still going to use gambling references when referring to a Las Vegas team. So why not just embrace it?
