I know the team had a small skid after the injuries/illness's hit, and i thought it was the start of a long dismal season. In reality it still could be. We will have to see what happens when they play top contenders. However the skills i watched on display, and the team execution, were very much the same as we saw through the month of November. So how does a team, with two dead weight anchors (jake/JVR.u.serious), and two key losses to forwards (Laugton/Linblom), and a lineup full off youngins, play the way they have the last two games? My answer, COACHING AV and his staff have done a great job of getting fluid, exciting play from this lineup. Hayes was an absolute wizard last night. His passing and playmaking was bad ass. The players are moving their feet, beating opposition to the puck, and dominating the O-zone with puck possession. The penalty kill has improved dramatically, some of it is having better personnel, but they play at a better tempo and try hard to limit the time the opposition PP has in the offensive zone. That's coaching too. I like AV's demeanor and he seems to be a very good communicator especially regarding expectations he has for players. He seems to have a good read on the team and knows what buttons to push. I enjoy having a non-blockhead head coach for the Flyers. 5 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

tucson83 Posted December 21, 2019 Share Posted December 21, 2019 coaching and the fact that most of these players besides 5 players were all drafted by the flyers which help the chemistry and are familiar with the system. if fletch traded alot of the young players it would have been a difficult process for av. King Knut Posted December 22, 2019 Share Posted December 22, 2019 I think it’s mostly confidence and that’s mostly coaching with a dash of Hart letting them know they won’t get destroyed every time they make a mistake. Niskanen has been very important confidence wise as well. Hayes has been a great addition, but the absence of Patrick sort of balances that out. I had to take a little while off from the board because this Lindblom thing has me just heartbroken. BUT, in the week or two I’ve been gone, JVR now leads the team in goals after the Sens game.
