Too steep.

I would give that package for Eichel.

For Jones:

2021 1st and Morin

Sorry i don't think Morin gets that done. It would have to be Sanheim, Myers or York i would think.

So i give them Sanheim...and sure he could score some goals on the Flyers who doesn't once they leave the Flyers i just think the Flyers could then exploit his soft play in his own end like i see so many now do to him now....yeah i'm saying it i just don't think Sanheim is ever going to be any better of a defender from here on out....i just don't he just don't have that dog in him like he needs.

And if i am wrong i will eat my serving of crow.

I wish i could say.

You would think a 40 point (prorated 18 goal scoring) defenseman would have some solid value...but at this moment it is impossible for me the say right now.

But he is over paid for a 3rd pair guy for sure on the Flyers so Chuckles needs to find a trade partner for his services. The offseason is the time to do it.

Is this because you believe what i am claiming about Sanheim and want a nibble??

Or you believe he will get better and do a good job and just want to spoon feed me my crow???

Depending on who the ? is. David Kase doesn't get it done, maybe Issac Ratcliffe does.

There are some intriguing prospects in the system, some guys in LHV that could be serviceable NHL players.

I think if Ratcliffe fills out, look out, he's got really high skill for a guy that tall. I think there are guys to add to Ghost and a 2021 first that could get a major deal done.

@CoachX

I think with regard to Ghost he needs the right situation.

He could be dynamite with the right partner, say in a situation where a partner has the mentality and tool kit to cover for him when he gets too aggressive.

Ghost isn't terrible in his own end, he's decent along the boards but he's not big so he isn't blowing guys up in the crease.

There is no denying his shot is ++ and his anticipation and offensive instincts are special.

He's a good player, but I don't think he's a complete 2 way set him and forget him guy. He's going to have lapses and at his price point he needs to be middle pairing and not 3rd and powerplay specialist which is where he seems to wind up for the Flyers.

With him I think finding the right trade partner would be the key.

@OccamsRazor

I don't want to see  you eat crow about Sanhiem.  I don't know that I care about being right or wrong about the players, I want them to be good so the team gets better.

I think Sanhiem will get better, I think everyone on the team can improve, especially after this year.

When I see him skate and join the rush, it's hard to want to cut bait with him. There were multiple times this year when he beat top defensemen on the rush after putting a move on the forward at the point and hitting the jets.

That can't be taught, nor can a mean streak so if that's the thing you value he may never become the player you're looking for.

He needs to use his frame better and that is a skill that can be taught, so in an ideal situation he improves there and the team keeps him around.

nah, I don't care either way.... right or wrong, if you are eating crow its a good time. And I would supply an obligatory bottle of beverage

in a reverese situation, I would hope you'd do the same

I think they should try to get William Eklund, LW, in the NHL draft, or trade down. They need more guys in the pipeline with his combination of speed, skill and vision on the ice. He had 11 goals and 12 assists this past season in the Swedish Hockey League. If he's not there, I would be very tempted to trade down.

Ok. So we wait in him.

So you are saying Ghost a 2021 1st and Ratcliffe for Seth Jones will work?

I don't know , I think so?

It seems fair to me so it's probably not enough.

I definitely would part ways with Sanheim and a 1st for Jones.

Yeah, I do that, as well.   And I like Sanheim more than most here (horrible season), but this seems like a no-brainer.

Sure...but he can always leave after ONE season when his contract runs out. Would you part ways with those for ONE season of Jones? I wouldn't. I'm sure he wants a big raise, even though his play hasn't really warranted it over the past 2 seasons. If he was already a Flyer I'm sure there'd be more than a few ready to run him out of town for it...but since he's not the grass is always greener.

It is why you talk to his agent and draw up the contract he would sign before the trade.

Complete the trade and then sign him to the extention.

Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

He could. That's the risk and why the offer shouldn't be too steep.

At this point the Flyers best defender (Provorov) and he could use some help. Hell this entire team needs a lobotomy.

I thought that was the problem they'd all received one.

No?

Then I have no clue what is up with them.

Lol, Ghost's value = zero.  Any team in the league could have had him for free and passed.

Now a team is going to suddenly give up assets for him?  I don't think so.

Off-season is different than deadline because of the cap. But, to your point, I don't believe he gets the value some may be thinking.  He may be good to get something done in a package. Even if it just sheds from our own cap.

So pickup 1.75 mill of his cap hit per year.

He is work 3 mill per season.

Then trade Jake and pickup 2 mill of his cap hit and well now you have some solid space.

That would be what 9.5 mill in cap space to go with what they already have.

And if they snag JVR well that is close to 17 mill added to spend.

Done.

Lets just hope Fletcher doesn't spend it on guys like Hayes.

Jones has only one year left. He'll either be asking for a significant raise or to be sent to a contender, and quite possibly both. There's a good chance he doesn't want to play for a team that struggles to even make the playoffs. He's on a team like that already and apparently wants out.

I also don't want us trading away 1st round picks any time soon. We need to hit on one of these guys to give us some superstar potential going forward, and virtually all players who become truly elite are taken early in the first round. We're shooting ourselves in the foot if we start doing that right now.

Honestly, this team doesn't need to get anyone as far as I'm concerned. They need to shed dead weight (Voracek), move players that still have value (Giroux), get rid of awful contracts (Hayes), and suck for a season or two, so that we can get a couple shots at landing some true top flight talent in the next bit.

I've mentioned before how much I really like Jones a lot. If we were a Jones away from contending, I'd be all over it, but we're not a Jones away from contending. He's not going to start hitting 80-90+ pts a season. We need someone who will, maybe even two someones.
