    I am not ready to throw the towel in just yet. However I would be working the phones and having some closed door meetings with Timo and Briere. I would not buy out Bryz just yet or target to do so next year simply because, and has already been stated, what is plan B that doesn't cost key assets? Any other goalies in the Russian league looking to come over adn get traded to Columbus???

    Yep. He hasn't been immune of taking the idiotic penalties however you are right - he has toned it down and is being a net positive. I think I've been seeing him block some shots lately too. I was happy to see the empty netter. I thought he would be another Dan Carcillo with better wheels.

    Anybody notice this today? Anybody notice how late in the game he was playing - presume so with the empty netter. It is clear he is a good skater. I wonder if this is a one time thing or something we will start seeing more of?

    I don't believe they are playing a run and gun style anymore. At one point this season they were playing a 1 -2 -2. The other team's commentator picked up on this. Nonetheless our glaring need is a puck moving defenseman. However our number 1 and 2 lines are not playing like it. Not a lot of teams are going to win if their top 2 lines play like the Flyers. G's line played the best when Read was on it. Subtract Read, and Briere, and they are nothing.

    I think the flyers need to wait until free agency. I just don't think the flyers have depth to do anything. The Flyers need to buy out Briere so they have more room to get free agents.

    @Polaris922, thanks for your thoughts. I agree on the puck moving defensemans which is why I was so dissapointed in letting carle go. Is Carle worth the contract he got? Apparently so since that is what the open market gave him. The cost of replacing him, if the Flyers can, may actually be even higher. Supply and defense err. demand.

    Injuries, bad refs and losses aside the games this year have been down right boring. I remember enjoying watching last year even when they lost. At least the games where high scoring and fast. This is like watching bad pee wee house league. I wont go into what I think the problems are just the fact the games are not entertaining...period.

    I am tired of non calls like this. Then you see the #@$@# call againest Backes and I lose all faith in the league (again).

    Howie I do get of to the games in Sunrise or tampa every year - generally the Oct - Dec part of the schedule. Sadly I will have to miss this game. Enjoy!

    Have you seen Timo take a slapper? I was shocked he could break Hartnell's foot. Either way I find it nice that we can at least go to the stables and pull out somebody that can skate and not just a 6'3+ 230+ immobile defenseman. He is what he is. None of your 5th to 8th dmen are going to have it all. He at least brings something different than the rest.

    I liked how he played the past 2 games. It is nice seeing that he can skate. I don't know how much he will get to play, more with AM's shoulder injury, but at least he keep up with a play.

    It's not like they gave him a 2 year deal at 1.5 a year or anything. Any "better" option for the price would be argueable. People are making it sound like we gave up a 2nd rounder. I think it was a knee jerk reaction especially with how they played last night but it is not the end of the world.

    well I will give him a chance before selling him down the river. As long as he plays 3rd line minutes at most. Did he play with Briere when he was here?

    I hope they don't keep Laughton up because of the injury. I have a feeling that would be a waste of his year and a professional contract (assuming his contract doesn't count if he is in Jr.).

    Well perhaps now we wont have the highest paid defense corp in the nhl? Looks like one of the young guns and/or Leljia (sp?) will need to be #6. Gus, MAB, Manning? Maybe even the Oliver kid will leap frog this crew to nab the 7th spot? Who knows maybe there is a Pronger update we don't know about? Too bad homer couldn't have dealt him in the summer for something even a 4/5 round pick.

    I'm not sold on Jackman vs. Carle. Carle has better wheels so I'd go with wheels.
