  1. Was the music she did back in the day being played by currently by the Flyers Org? I am gonna take a no on that. I am not going to miss the piece because it was overplayed/overused for the last 30 years and that should have been the real reason for retiring it, not because Ed Snider's grand parents used to own slaves or something........I would challenge anyone in todays media to the fact that they have made poor decisions in their pasts that they are not proud of. They learned from their mistakes and I am sure they are not the only ones. Was my Halloween costume where I dressed as a priest and strapped a cabbage patch doll face down in my crotch done in poor taste? Yes, but it seemed funny at the time.........
  2. Kris Letang. He constantly tries to turn Hockey into soccer with his flamboyant diving. Evander Kane. Cheapens the game by his on and off ice activities. All time most hated would go to the ultimate cheap shot artists Tie Domi and Darius Kasparitus. At least Domi would occasionally fight so he finishes behind the only guy in Hockey who turned "turtling" into an Olympic sport.
  3. No, It just means he will join Chris Pronger in Arizona..............
  4. To me, the team that got rid of Subban won the deal. To this day, he still acts like a petulant child on the ice. Weber's contract will in the end make this a win for the Preds but at least for the next 5 or 6 years you have a respected/responsible team leader who will make Montreal more of a team than they are currently. Until now, they have been a bunch of guys on the ice with one spoiled brat, beating his stick on the ice, screaming for the puck...........
  5. To me,(not a hawks fan or hater) he appeared to turn over, take aim, and then swung for the fence. If he were to take the same swing at his legs and not his face, it is a 2 minute penalty and he gets his point across about being angry for being dumped. It was one of the more cowardly plays I have seen from a real hockey player. If I was DOPS, he would have been done until next season. The suspension he got is a joke. The DOPS had a chance to send a message with this by punishing someone of merit, great and high profile player, but they did not. Until the DOPS starts hitting these offenders in the wallet, with real suspensions and fines. the concussion train is going to keep on rolling, all night long.
  6. My bad, saw the "shiny" and just followed it right down the path to Tangentville........
  7. But they still count against the cap and they should not. That would be a major improvement and allow you to (on your own dollar as an owner) pay for your GM's mistake.
  8. How about this, Keep the cap number in place but allow buy outs of nonperforming players.......You still would have to maintain the pay level but you could buy yourself out of dumb mistakes too.......
  9. The problem is you will end up with maybe 6 teams total because no one would want to play on a team that decreased their chance to make money. Take away the cap and allow teams to pay off bad contracts like AMAC without the cap hit. That would change the game for the better too.....
  10. I have to believe that Tyler Myers is still going to be valuable at the end of his contract....Hartnell, he could pull a Jagr on us but I highly doubt it...

    Away With You!

Always nice to read about the past. Nice article and summation.
  12. Coburn might be a better puck handler but he also had quite the penchant for scoring goals in his own net. Couple that with his inability to put a puck on net from more than 10 feet out, well lets just say that I don't miss Coburn very much. Gudas is a solid 3rd pair d-man with a reasonable salary and hits everything that moves along with the net when he shoots at it. I will take that trade 8 days a week and twice on Sundays.........
  13. In the same article he makes it a point to say that he played fairly easy minutes due to the lack of trust he has from his own coaches. I agree that he is very good on the offensive side but there are just too many of those "odd gaffes" for me to give him credit for being good defensively. Personally, I dislike the guy and his penchant for diving and attitude but that is my own opinion.
  14. @jammer2 Whilst I am guilty of not watching a lot of Habs games, the ones that I have he does nothing defensively. He does a have cannon of a shot from the point on the PP though. Just watch him stand there and beat his stick on the ice waiting for the puck to come to him and then get all boo boo lipped if it does not. Good offensive instincts, yes....defensive, not so much....
  15. I have serious doubts about that jammer. Subban is good at a lot of things but playing actual defense is not one of them. I give it 3 months before the locker room is in shambles due to his child-like me,me,me attitude. At least they (the habs) have allowed themselves some leeway to send him packing( the NMC clause does not kick in until 16/17) but with the money they paid him it is going to cost them money just to move him. Sound familiar to anyone?
  16. Junior players do not need representation. I think you will quickly see it become MIS-representation with little to no help and only the loss of dues to the paying members. That is strictly a money grab move by UNIFOR. Somebody sees it as an easy slice of pie and is trying to put their nose in where it does not belong.......(and this is coming from a pro-union person).
  17. You have two of the most notorious divers in the league with Malkin and Kris "head flail" Letang......do you really want to go there? Please note, I did not mention he does no wrong........
  18. It sure is a damn shame that Toews and Kane put guns to the Blackhawks heads so they would make stupid money...... Where are Bettman/Jacobs and the rest of their stop the insanity posse on this? "We really, really, really, REALLY mean we will be fiscally responsible this time........."
  19. Wow...he went so far as to have surgery to cover his short comings last season.......... or Well i am not sure where I have heard this before but injuries are not an excuse for poor play...... It does not surprise me that he had injuries and they kept him off the board but I am surprised it took this long for that info to surface. Caveat: the first 2 statements were tongue in cheek......before B21 has to rush to defend his man...... on one more note, Is it possible that B21 and "Regis" are one in the same?
  20. Unless it has changed, Derian Hatcher is one of the defensive player development coaches. I wish he would do a little work with Coburn again as that was the last time Coburn was really playing up to his potential.
  21. Well even when you back it up with the stats, some people will put blinders on and ignore it just so they can hate
  22. I am not hating on Emery, I just think the Flyers would have been better served with a more mobile back up goalie than the one they currently have......
  23. For all the Downie haters out there, for whatever reason, his arrival on the 3rd line with Couturier and Read just "happened" to be the same time that the Flyers pulled out of their funk. They moved Max "I am pouting" Talbot because he thought he was too good to play on the 3rd/4th line. When Downie plays with even a little control, he is really strong in the corners with puck possession and a decent passer too. I agree with TFG, low risk, high reward potential. If someone is going to get the most out of him, Tocchet is the guy.
