  1. So, if the CBA is amended to NOT participate. Can the league, or more importantly, the NHLPA, prevent players from participating? Can they even fine them? The Olympics are outside NHL jurisdiction. I think a bigger problem would be teams. Are the Pens/Caps/Flyers etc, going to let players miss 3 weeks of NHL action if the league doesn't go. NO WAY!! Then what happens if Ovie says, "screw you, mother Russia is calling" Those scenarios are ugly. Very ugly. I will say this: the NHL being in the Olympics is great for the GAME of hockey. It is bad for the business of the NHL.
  2. Same reply to you, since it fits.... They were...1989-94....with no threat of relocating the franchise either.
  3. They were...1989-94....with no threat of relocating the franchise either.
  4. While I agree with you completely, Kovy "retired". If Pronger wasn't signed when he was over 35, the Flyers would have gotten out of that contract the same way(assuming Pronger retired).
  5. I saw that picture in Anthony SanFillippo's twitter timeline yesterday, I responded..."So we can expect Giroux and Simmonds to be traded after next season, Thanks for the warning." He didn't reply for some reason.
  6. I posted this in the shoutbox the other day. They traded up to take Kevin Marshall---ahead of PK Subban.
  7. So they lose every game, and are easy to play against?
  8. Exactly!! There just happened to be a SIGNED 6 year, $27 million contract blowing down the street, and lucky for old Ville, he grabbed it and signed his name to it! Lucky dog!
  9. I would suggest they were getting worse LONG before the Vanek and Pommer trades. They didn't make a choice to get worse...they were already bad and decided to rebuild. You can thank Darcy for that. He should have been gone eons ago.....
  10. Do you mean as GM? If so, Clarke resigned, he wasn't fired. They fired Hitchcock. Regardless, this story could have legs. There is no doubt Hextall was brought in as some type of insurance/back up plan. Lukko resigning when he did/like he did, struck many of us as very odd. Thanks to @iban3z for sharing...
  11. I find it down right laughable that McGinn is still being debated. 100% hilarious. They have no defense, the goalies are sieves right now, the forwards can't play 200 feet to save their lives, and we continue to argue the merits of a borderline AHL/NHL player. The Titanic has hit the iceberg and is listing badly, yet we are arguing about what salad dressing we want with our 7 course dinner.
  12. Cap goes up. NO NMC/NTC and it's a bridge deal to even bigger money if he plays well. Given his play in Philly and his apparent turnaround; that's a good deal by Homer. Cash may be a bit high, but with cap increasing, I don't have an issue.
  13. Mason is an RFA...they don't have to break the bank on him. Which means 5 years+ and a full NMC is coming.
  14. I would say it's a good thing..FOR YOU..you are even allowed on this site at all. Don't bite the hand that feeds you and come on here and act like a douche bag--again.
  15. I gotta admit, I look at the names they are kicking around, then I look at every other team, and think-"how is anyone going to challenge Canada". I know they don't play games on paper, but Canada's potential roster is just ridiculous. Thoughts on Carter? I'm hearing he's a bubble pick.
  16. So they gave a reporter unfiltered access to the room, he reported what happened, and USA hockey is surprised? Great planning and foresight there, fellas. Hey, Ryan should be pissed. He belongs on that team. Anyone would be pissed if they heard those things said about them. I get that. However, if anyone has an opinion..it's Burke. There isn't a stop sign between head and mouth. . I'm not saying I agree with what he said, but how anyone at USA Hockey didn't see this coming is amazing to me. And Rad is 1000% correct, if Team USA doesn't get 3+ a game, this is gonna blow up all over again in February. I place the blame squarely on USA Hockey. Bad decision, after bad decision....
