  1. Personally I'd go with 83, the year I smoked my first......which is so long ago that the pratice of stuffing a blunt hadn't even been invented yet
  2. I think there's no doubt that the NHL/NBC are going to promote the best player in the game and that utterly hatable team she plays for, but whether it's overboard or not is for someone with more objectivity than me to judge. I mean seriously, every time I see that horse toothed goofy jackass's face I want to slap a baby, so I am no position to judge whether the NBC is rooting for the Pens....but it would also seem obvious that the Pens are better ratings draw, so......
  3. Flyers-Penguins in State College. THAT is the game they should be playing.
  4. That's great news @blocker , very happy for both of you
  5. You happy bastards have obviously finished your Christmas shopping! Merry Christmas hockey people
  6. I hate everyone. Especially that piano-key-teeth-havin'-horse-faced Crysby. But most of all I hate everyone. And Lindros too for making @Podein25 's life so damn difficult.
  7. The LOGO they used with the powder blue unis was fine, but that color is just awful
  8. Iggles - Bears next week, now there's a thread I can get jacked up about!
  9. Every time we play the Hawks we have to look at Patrick Sharp and lottery pick we got boned out of. Still having Leaky Leighton flashbacks, maybe NBC can just skip the 2010 retrospective.....Hawks 5 Flyers 2, this one's over early.
  10. @Hockey Nut I have close friend who is an Isles fan, your pain sounds familiar. To this day he still refers to Snow as swiss cheese boy, going back to his awful tenure in net. I miss the Flyers-Isles as a rivalry, it was great for almost 2 decades until bad ownership and Mike Milbury destroyed a solid NHL franchise. A move to Brooklyn won't help unless they leave swiss cheese boy on the island. Good luck to your boys and welcome aboard
  11. I missed the game so it didn't happen. People think I'm gonna believe they scored 4 in the 3rd AT Detroit, yeah right
  12. Kinda takes trading away Bob from an unmitigated Flyer disaster to a mutually beneficial deal. Couldn't ask for anything more from Mason, an absolute pleasure watching this kid play
  13. Admitting you have a problem is the first step! And what flyercanuck said......
  14. Now this I did not know....kind of an interesting connection between Cleveland and Minnesota, since the NHL Cleveland Barons and the Minnesota North Stars merged into a reconstituted North Stars team back in...I guess '79, the year of the merger?
  15. Ya had to know this was coming. I think the basis for the judgement (or did they cut a deal?) in the NFL players' lawsuit was that the NFL had studied this issue extensively, yet failed to share what it knew. I guess we'll find out at trial whether and when the NHL had this type of knowledge, but one would reasonably assume that it did and around the same time. Part of me feels like this is the same as smokers suing tobacco companies because there wasn't a warning label before 1960-whatever.
  16. @AlaskaFlyerFan That one never gets old! @Jam1986 I'm too old to jump on and off bandwagons, F my creaky knees up something terrible. I'm going to guess 99% of the posters here for all teams are also of the non-bandwagon variety.....plus who's actually going to admit to being a front runner
  17. That would seem to be the only possibility. Myers' cap hit for $5.5 through 2019 means you'd have to get Buffalo to take back one of OUR bad contracts. And they would be just plain stupid to take Hartnell at his 750k a year less deal for the same time period. No way this happens. Not to mention I'm not sure I'd want Myers at that $, I like him, but as @flyercanuck pointed out, I don't like him as much as I did a couple years ago....
  18. Or a filter to catch it before it comes out. Ever been in the middle of saying something to her, and you realize you should stop but its already too late and you're screwed? I did that at least 3 times today, weekends are dangerous..... To the to topic, yes some similarities in the start of the season points-wise, but that's really where the comparison ends for me. Different coach, different nucleus, no leaky Leighton
  19. The spirit of the 70s lives! I stll get that twitch too, the pro game has changed, but I still got that bloodlust flowing
  20. That's all I needed to hear haha And young guys vs oldhead point is right on. Heck my dad is still pissed that they got rid of the bench-clearing brawls!
  21. I think a very rational argument has been made here over and over again. It's a team game. You don't change the nature of it at the end to have a breakaway contest with 3 snipers and a goalie to decide the winner. The entire game goes out the window - no checking, no defense, no passing, no offensive or defensive philosophy, no team. I understand and accept that you like shootouts, no problem. But I feel you are blinding yourself to an actual point, just as you say shootout haters are doing. In a stunning of events, I couldn't agree more. EDIT: Sorry about the underlines, I'm not THAT self-important, I just couldn't get rid of them.on this post after refreshing copying pasting....
  22. Even a blind squirrel finds a broken clock twice a day
  23. He picked the Flyers twice apparently
  24. This isn't really a cheer for team other than mine per se, but still a family rivalry once a year.... I've been going to the Army-Navy game with my Dad since 1973 (only missed 3 games in that span). I was never in the military, dad was in the Air Force, but he always loved this game and always rooted for Army. So I'm 6 and we go to my first game, I decided to root for Navy....and Navy wins 51-0. It stuck and I've always rooted Navy in the last game of the year, and I've always followed the military academies. Nowadays its more of a tongue in cheek family rivalry, last year at the game I was clapping for Navy but secretly hoping Army would hang for the win, for dad. My oldest son roots Navy but my youngest son....I actually steered him to Army (with help from his mom) to even things out.
