briere48
by looking at the blackhawks, they went to the finals because they added vet centers which got them their third cup, if hextall trades vinny and the rest of the d grossman, streit, mac, schenn, they should go after 2 centers that's reasonable and get a backup goalie. as far as wingers, i think hextall should try out the ones he drafted and from the phantoms. what's your opinions? AJgoal
So unless there's something worthwhile available in trade, which I don't foresee, I'd stand pat with the forwards as they are. Find a backup goaltender on a two year deal. Try to re-sign White, MDZ, and Vandevelde, and then just keep working to clear contracts. If Hextall can eliminate one more out of Lecavalier, Umberger, and/or MacDonald, I'd consider this offseason a win. Bonus points if he gets Voracek signed to an extension at a reasonable cap number. No, it probably won't make the Flyers more than a fringe playoff team, but it would set them up well going forward.

THIS^^^^ Instead of trying to make the team "good" each and every year, have some kind of plan to eventually have a "great" team. And that doesn't happen by signing the best old FA every single year. radoran
We must have someone better in the system already (for a fraction of the price). Raffl and Bellemare are the only two designated "left" wings on the current roster (and Bellemare was a career center before coming to the NHL...) Here are the left wingers "in the system"Danick MartelTyrell GoulbourneTaylor Leier with Andrew Johnston and Marcel Nobels both RFA. To be clear, they certainly don't need to run out and sign Fleischmann or... Upshall or Zolnierczyk (thank God #homercoaster isn't GM any more). But I'm not sure there's a clear cut "answer" in the system at this point.

AJgoal
I dunno. Belesky reeks of Clarkson to me, he'd never cracked 10 goals before this year, and now he's wanting 5+ million? I wouldn't sign him at his asking price. Maybe at half of it. I'd rather not sign him at all and have that be a mistake, than sign him and have it be a huge mistake. We already have Raffl who put up a whole 1 goal less and 3 points less last year, and he's a year younger and 4 million cheaper.
FD19372
Glencross or Bergenheim might not be a bad pickup. They need to get rid of Vinny before any of this happens, but that list of UFA options is totally awful.

Podein25
Oskar Lindblom is also a LW. You see him listed as LW (or sometimes LW/RW), but he has also played a lot of center, including at the WJCs if I'm not mistaken. He certainly plays a responsible 200 foot game like a good center, but obviously can play wing, which is a good thing.

I was going with folks who were currently under contract and in the Flyers "system." Actually Morrow You mean VLC mark II? 25 points in 71 games for STL in 13-14 and 8 in 70 for TBL this season from a 36yo forward doesn't speak to me of a top line left winger for the Flyers...
