Oh my......
Claude Dirty Mitts Giroux with a wide open gaping net....couldn't put it away.

I bet if the goalie had been an Ottawa law enforcement officer he would have found a way to get it in..... :shifty:

That goalie just needs to watch his "five-hole". Too soon?

Dude...just realized...you left Provorov on the bench in All Stars!
Happened to me some days ago with Kadri….and of course, Kadri produced double digit face offs.
How it goes...… same with Provy for you.

Oh crap. You're right. That's it. Nothing but granola bars in my fantasy team vending machines!

This is the start of a new era. Flyers start season 2-0 and shutout the Devils and get superior goaltending.

Not sure if it is its own class or not, but personally I'm fond of the Wench. Love the wenches.

Wenches are fine...thinking of "class," outside of social...probably warships.

Good effort!  Hart was remarkable, and Hayes is impressive.  The penalty kill actually worked.  They worked hard.  Will they keep it going?  NJ may not be a hard test.  But there seems to be an intensity level several notches over prior editions.

Hmmm....one girl, two cups....I got a feeling this is going viral.

Nice to see Simmonds get the standing O....they can boo him next game. Also nice to see the two guys who got paid (less than Hayes) leading the team in scoring. And Hart continuing his fine form.

It was only the Devils, but Hak would have found a way to lose. Still undefeated baby!

Sounds like a Canuck TV series who stars in it?

I think if Elliott was in goal last night they lose this one and get behind early. To bad Sandstrom is in the ECHL and not fast tracking to spell Elliott at a moments notice....i'm afraid he is the only one who can really replace Elliott when he goes yanked or goes down.

I'm afraid Lyon or Berube is just another deck chair.

Hidden Content

Youngest Flyers to ever get a shutout (1 of only 2 in the NHL so far this year).

946% and a 1.50 gaa is off to a nice start. Canucks are the next test.

Carter Hart first goalie 21 or younger to win each of his team's first two games in a season since... Steve Mason.

So, you know, we've got that going for us...  👺

Thanks for screwing with my day...good Lord!!!

You also probably don't want to know that Carson Wentz set the record for most completions by a rookie quarterback, surpassing Sam Bradford.

You're welcome. 👺

Didn't he tie an NHL record last year with most consecutive wins from start of a career? Wasn't it like 9? Tied with Thibault, IIRC.

That Neanderthal Wood is taking liberties against our guys and Subban cross checked Raffl 4x . I dont see any retaliation by our soft team. Just a matter of time before Morin is on the lineup. Probaly after our guys take a few beatings from some goon.

Bro, I think you're going to have to get used to this.

Seems to me, the AV brand of "compete" means to win the puck, I don't think he gives a 2 hoots about the rough stuff.

If the team wins IDGAF about the goon business either, win the puck, win using pressure everywhere, win with skating.

This is where the league has been going, there can still be toughness in that game, look at all the goons St Louis dresses.... I think that's where the Flyers are headed, I won't mind it if they win.

I don't think this team is easy to play against and that suits me just fine.

I am 100% on the Carter Hart bandwagon. Just found the Tweet amusing, thus the goblin 👺

That glove save on Hall last night was a thing of beauty and a joy forever. Kid looks confident and composed.

The future is bright. 😎

Gritty is a stroke of genius. I imagine it must have been a hard sell and taken someone who just truly truly believed that it was the right approach for a mascot.

Nailed it.

This is a much better angle than the live angle, but the slow-motion doesn't do it justice. The live speed was "oh my God, what the hell just happened?  How was that possible?"

Great pass, great shot, but an OMG save.

Fans, Philadelphians, Gritty, lend me your ears; I come to bury Hextall, not to praise him. The bad GMs do lives after them; The good is oft interred with their bones; So let it be with Hextall. The noble Brelic Hath told you Hextall damaged the franchise: If it were so, it was a grievous fault, And grievously hath Hextall answer’d it. Here, under leave of Brelic and the rest– For Brelic is an honourable man; So are they all, all honourable men–

Just absolute WOW on Carter Hart's performance. What a difference it makes when you have a goalie who actually stops the puck. Kudos to the PP too. They had a lot of attack zone time and it looks like they are going to be dangerous. NJ goalie kept this a game with some amazing stops himself. I almost forgot what it was like to watch an exciting hockey game. Welcome back Flyers!!!

Well, that was one helluva hockey game.   - That 2nd period was probably the most organized and dominant stretch of hockey I've seen the Flyers play in about a decade.   - As brilliant as Hart was, last night really was a complete team effort. Special teams, all lines and defense pairs. They seem to just control play at will. The 1st period was more even - probably a bit of rust, nerves, and just a feeling out process. After that it was all Philly.   - Hughes is alr

I won't indict Hextall to hell, he was not perfect, he did sign some bad NHL players while he was rebuilding the farm system and prospect pool. I don't think the half-assed rebuild was fun. I do, however, like seeing guys like Carsen Twarinski look like legit NHL players. 81 was on zero people's radar as a "youngster primed to make the NHL roster".  And here he is blowing up Norris trophy candidate PK Subban in the home opener and handcuffing the Devils goalie with his ++ shot.  That's

I missed the game, but this is the single most important takeaway. Fun and loose = winning. They have not looked fun and loose for a long, long time. And I don't mean Carter and Richards kind of fun and loose either, but on the ice.   It's funny how it all adds up: A good, confident young goalie: check A few veteran D-men: check A coach with a pedigree: check Skill, talent, found from within through the draft: check Gritty: check

No. Which is one of the reasons I re-posted the note about his achievement being the first since Steve Mason.   Franchise goalies are made by sustained excellence over time.   I'm on the bandwagon because I believe he can do it. But, like the rest of the team, he has to go out and actually do it.
