  1. Past hour
  2. I too like the way the Habs are being built, however, and I could be wrong of course, I think it will take more than just into next year before we see the Canadiens compete, much less acquire, a playoff position. You said it yourself: The Atlantic Division is quite deep and it will take much more than just putting together a bunch of talented young players to succeed....see Ottawa Senators, see Buffalo Sabres, see Detroit Red Wings...you get the idea... The Canadiens still have to learn to play together, what to do in the various game situations, and yea, STILL add to their talent pool and come up with a legit number 1 goalie. With MSL at the helm behind the bench, I have no doubt those players are learning to play the right way, but, as you know, this whole thing is a "process". Some teams try to cheat a bit and skip parts of the process...oftentimes blows up in their front office faces. Others, like the Habs, take it every step at a time.....and in doing that, they take longer to get to where they want to be, but once there, should be sustainable. I just think next season is too soon still.
  3. Today
  4. Shesterkin way too good here in game 3. (Like the Geico commercial walrus on several point blank shots.)
  5. I would kill to have Al back calling the Wild broadcasts. My god that would be fun! He wouldn’t be afraid to light the team up if they were goldbricking. But unfortunately it seems that the current environment is all “rah, rah, rah, don’t criticize the team!”
  6. No, no. I deserved it. I should’ve went right to the NHL site to begin with. Besides, I’ve been around here for a long time. I know you’re a smarmy, old bastage!
  7. So ...... The Flyers will be picking at #12 for the upcoming 2024 NHL Entry Level Draft. Who are some of the players that could potentially be in play? Who would you like to see. Position of need most of us would agree a 1C and a legit 1st pair D-Man. Here are some of the top Centers available this year ..... I think you can safetly kiss Celebrini / Demidov / Lindstrom off the list unless the Flyers win the Lottery and pick #2. Regardless, Celebrini will not be a Flyer. Depending how the draft unfolds, Catton might be in play. I think at #12 Iginla / Helenius would be potential picks if available. As far as D-men ..... I know this draft is heavy on D-Men. Any names that stick out? I have seen Levshunov / Dickinson and Parekh drafted high in mock drafts ...Don't know much about them. Again Thoughts? We will know more once the Lottery is completed ......
  8. Acknowledged, but the fact remains that no one else did it even when there were only six teams
  9. Yesterday
  10. Yeah. Sorry. Mine was a d### post. I my tepid defense, I'd just come from Facebook. But you deserve better. I apologize.
  11. Go Stars! Should it be a (and dear God, I hope it isn't) Rangers-Golden Knights finals, I'm rooting for the Rags. I'll barely watch any of the games, but I'll root for them. I literally detest the Golden Knights.
  12. I stand corrected. When I searched for the rules, neither of those links came up. That’s what I get for relying on ESPN and their incomplete reporting!
  13. It's one of those things that, as Crash said in the movie, is a dubious honour, but I respect it. Fred Glover could play hockey, but he was trapped in the minors because, when he was in his prime, he was buried by the likes of Sid Abel and Alex Delvecchio.
  14. Trade it to Ottawa, for Brady Tkachuk.
  15. https://phillyhockeynow.com/2024/04/24/philadelphia-flyers-trade-anaheim-ducks-address-team-needs/ Here's the article where Jonathan Bailey suggests the Ristolainen/Konecny for Zegras and others deal.
  16. I'll take the second pick. Except we have crap luck with that
  17. I mean it's right in the NHL press release https://www.nhl.com/news/2024-nhl-draft-lottery-set-for-may-7#:~:text=The 2024 draft will reportedly, wins one of the draws.
  18. I thought the Flyers had a chance to win the first pick, too, until last night when I found and read this article. https://thehockeynews.com/news/nhl-draft-lottery-day-set-what-are-the-odds#:~:text=A team participating in the, receives the first overall pick. They can only draft as high, as the #2 pick.
  19. When you abuse the LTIR system like Vegas does, the real surprise would be if they weren't off to a commanding lead.
  20. Good news for my FHL team - make it happen
  21. If you are a hard core Hockey fann you may have heard of Chris Terry. Maybe. Terry was drafted by Carolina in the fifth round in 2007, a decent goal scoring winger built like a fire hydrant, nice shot but not a lot of speed, defense is ok but not great enough to play a checking role. He caught his first break in the NHL at 24, scored his first goal the day before his birthday. He spent the next season in the AHL, his sixth straight and then in 2015 and 16 he spent two years on the bottom line with Carolina, averaging 10 goals a year. He left for Montreal as an UFA which turned out to be a mistake, the Habs were a mess and rotated people in and out of the lineup, Terry spent 14 games in Montreal in 2016-17 scoring two goals. They were his last 14 games in the NHL. From there Terry bounced between Grand rapids and Bridgeport, scoring at a point a game pace, at 35 he struggled to find an AHL contract but managed to sign with the Independent Chicago Wolves where he managed to score 21 goals and 50 points in 61 games, proving he can still score. Here is the Crash Davis thing comes from. Crash is a fictional character from the Legendary movie Bull Durham who stuck around in his quest to break an all time home run record, something that nobody seemed to know about as nobody pays much attention to Minor league records. Well.... Terry could score. He can still score. IMHO he could have had a ten year NHL career if the breaks had went right, those days are long gone but he plays for love of the game. This year he entered the season pushing against towards 300 goals, he finally got number 300 against the Griffins and Michael Hutchinson on December 29th. He played hard all year, finishing with 311 goals for his AHL career, good for 16th all time in league history. In the history of the league, only 3 players who appeared in the last quarter of a century have more goals in the league than he does. If he has another year in him that is about what last year was, he will crack the top ten goal scorers in AHL history. I followed him early in the year as he was chasing 300, his teammates in about any article about Terry simply gush on and on about what a fantastic teammate and person he is, just well loved by the league. Just a quick write up about a terrific goal reached by a 35 year old winger who deserves the recognition for an amazing career. Not that anyone noticed.
  22. https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/40031644/nhl-draft-lottery-scheduled-7 Flyers have a 2.5% chance to win the 1st overall pick on May 7th. I’m not sure where the “can’t move up more than 10 spots” comment/rumor I’ve read on here is coming from. I don’t see it in the 2023 draft lottery rules, (can’t find 2024 rules).
  23. This is why i suggested weeks ago before the deadline about his name and saying it was coolest in hockey - dank with that stank IYKYK
  24. Well I’m hoping the Leafs win tonight. They always tried to sell the Leafs vs Sabres as a rivalry here but I never bought it. There really is no rivalry and the Sabres have always been a thorn in their side. I would like to see Toronto win now that my teams are long gone. But that’s not likely. Not that they don’t have the talent . I guess we see what happens tonight. I know Boston has been waiting for the playoffs to get payback for last year and they want Florida. They may just get them. I guess Carolina have kind of gotten no respect. Except in Vegas as Jack reminded us.
  25. This is the series I’m most surprised by so far. I really don’t care about either team but I did not see Dallas losing first two at home. No doubt a must win for Dallas is game 3.
  26. He was one of the all time greats. Having a 1 in 6 chance of winning is obviously a lot better than 1 in 32. And going 2 rounds was a lot easier than going 4 now. The Habs back in those days though were clearly the cream of the crop.
  27. We were very spoiled as a market to have Wally, Herb and Ray painting a picture on the radio.
