And how is this hit less dangerous than Kerfoot's???

https://www.nhl.com/video/kerfoot-suspended-two-games/t-277440360/c-4678894

He only got two games.

And McAvoy gets only one game for this hit??? Which seems way more violent.

https://www.nhl.com/video/mcavoy-suspended-one-game/t-277440360/c-68135703

And this one an interference by Hyman and he only gets 2 games.

So HTF does Farabee get 3 goddamn games for that hit????

Maroon only gets 2 games for this interference....

So what was Perreault's injury?  Not a head shot.

Had the wind knocked out of him?  ... any thing else?

Not even sure he has always been made of glass.

One thing is certain i don't know how they will get back to scoring goals.

This is overkill.....way over especially for a first time offender.

This is complete ********.

It’s not the suspension, it’s the inconsistency that drives me bonkers.

Farabee is a first time offender. 3 games.

Borosh!thead is a multiple offender with multiple suspensions AND HE OPENLY SAID HE WOULD NOT CHANGE after his latest suspension.

What a ****** week to be a Flyers fan.

Classic rookie mistake. The league had to nip all the shoulder-to-chest hitting right in the bud. If he has any brains, Farabee will use this time to think about what he did and know there’s no place in this long, storied, and honorable league for juvenile antics like that.

Late hit. Interference. 2 minutes. Wtf.

I'm with @brelic about the inconsistency.

But I also have a problem with the suspension.  In fact, I had a problem with the major penalty.  It was late.  Yes.  It was interference.  Yes.  It was not charging, and it was NOT a head shot.    I don't think he even got the head on the follow-through.

I'm not going to sit here and say stuff like "Perrault needs to look where he's going."   But it's a crap overkill on the penalties on this.   There is absolutely no good reason whatsoever for it.

Tell me how this hit was different from the hit on Konecny.   Allowing for a moment that Borowiecki didn't make initial contact with TK's head.   He hit him late.    I'd also argue that the initial point of contact was the head.

So, late hit on the Flyer with the puck not there.  Head is initial point of contact.   Flyer has concussion.  Player has twice been suspended for dangerous hits to the head:  Not even a god damned 2 minute minor.  No comment from the league, let alone a suspension

Flyer makes late hit on a player and the puck is not there.   Head is NOT the initial point of contact and might never have been hit at all.  Perrault gets a concssion.  Flyer has never been suspended or even accused of a dirty hit previously.   2 min.  5 min. Game Misconduct.  3-game suspension.

Someone attempt to argue with me with a straight face and tell me this league isn't utter bull####.

Here's a hit that I think is even closer to the Farabee hit.

Here's some context for you.

The hit came 0.65 seconds after the puck was gone - meeting the league's threshold for a late hit (0.6 seconds).

The Flames were leading 8-5 with 22 seconds left in the game.

The game was a pissing match between the two teams, and there is a predatory nature to it.

It is shoulder to chest.

No penalty. No fine. No suspension.

How is this materially different from the Farabee hit?

The League clearly still has a bias against the Flyers.

Ya know....I usually do not buy into the "conspiracy" theory stuff but I'm not sure there is another explanation at this point?!

3 game suspension is utter NON-SENSE! I think it's time for our GM to address this issue in public. I think the TK hit from the other night is a PRIME example....how that hit gets zero attention (not even a 2 min minor!) and this gets a 2/5 3 game?!.....just bizarre.

Why would the league "target" and be bias against one of the top grossing teams in the game?!...

Good for Farabee. Im happy to see him stand up for himself, and his teammates.  Finally someone on this team shows some passion and anger.

Maybe if some other players on this team did their job and took care of business, Farabee wouldnt have to.

I agree the suspension is a joke

I'd love to see this.  Put the conspiracy rumors to bed.  Call out the League on its biased inconsistency.

I don't think it is "bias" as much as inconsistency and incompetence.

Fans tend to see "bias" against their teams, because they see their teams more often. For example, here's a Rags fan commenting on the lack of a penalty on Ellis:

Here's an interesting "survey" perspective from bleacherreport back in 2012:

Quote

Put another way: large minorities -- sometimes even majorities -- of fans believe the NHL is biased against their favorite team despite almost nobody else throughout the rest of the league agreeing with them.

I was coming to say almost word for word exactly the same sentence.  I was going to say "stupidity" instead of "incompetence," but po-tay-toe/pattatta.

So here's the question:

When does "consistently inconsistent" become consistent?
