BobbyClarkeFan16
Great signing. Del Zotto gets rewarded, but Hextall doesn't break the bank. I expect Del Zotto to really step up his game this year and I can see a 50+ point season. Glad they re-signed him and glad to see that Del Zotto didn't get too greedy. They have less than 500k in cap room I think. They don't have to...the roster is pretty much set. What you see is what you get more than likely. No i'm sure if Hexy finds a chance to move someone out like say Luke or VLC or even Mcdud he will do it...but he doesn't have to...they'll make do with what they have now. Lindbergh31
If those terms are right that is a very good deal for both sides. Now get rid of McDud HexyFair deal, don't have to rush any of the young defensemen and it's not a long term deal like McDud. Mad Dog
The duration is good. The money *may* be a bit higher, but not by much.
ruxpin
I'm good with this. Agree with @Mad Dog that the amount *may* be a bit high, but for the duration that works.
flyercanuck
Zot is only 25. That's still developing years for a Dman. So he either continues working toward bettering himself and wanting to be part of the Flyers very bright defensive future or gets dealt for a decent haul at one of the next two deadlines...or he goes back to porn stars as his main obsession and gets dealt at the deadline for whatever. I really like the prospects of MDZ playing with a great dynamic D-man like the ones we have coming. He has to be at a level of confidence after signing this contract, which reflects his good play, that he hasn't had since his first year. Imagine what playing with a talent like Provorov will do for his game? He has a chance to really take it to the next level. That, combined with general maturity, could make him a very good player indeed.
canoli
Yes we will finally have some speed on the blue line, with Ghost, Prov, etc. coming on...so if DZ continues to play well, hopefully matures into someone who can lead by example *and* can keep putting up 40+ pts he'll have a great chance with the Flyers to be something special. Phillygrump
If only that were the kind of deal MacDonald & Streit had signed. Then Homer would still be our GM and we'd have either drafted Crouse or traded the 7th overall pick in this past draft. flyercanuck
@Phillygrump We wouldn't have the 7th overall pick cause Holmgren would have traded Ghost and Morin and whoever we took instead of Sanheim for Iginla so we'd end up picking 13th.
